Max Fund Shelter

MaxFund is a true no-kill shelter. We do not pre-screen our animals into adoptable or non-adoptable categories. In our hearts and minds, all animals are adoptable; they just might need a little extra time and attention. Our main mission is to rehabilitate sick, injured and stray animals and then find homes for them. All animals stay at MaxFund until a suitable home is found for them.

There are several ways we accomplish this mission. We rely heavily on the time and talent of our large “army” of volunteers. Without them, we could not continue to operate at the levels that we do. Our volunteers perform allsorts of duties from dog walking and training to grooming and socializing our cats and dogs, helping the staff with adoption counseling, kennel cleaning, laundry, administrative duties and much, much more. Our volunteers also organize and operate all of our community outreach events and mobile adoption events. You can get more information about becoming a volunteer at the MaxFund volunteer’s web site www.maxfundvolunteers.org.

We also have foster families who help us accomplish our mission. We can only accommodate a limited number of animals at the shelter. Our foster families allow us to help a larger number of animals by opening their homes to one or more cats and/or dogs. They provide their foster pets with shelter, food and attention, and MaxFund partners with them to provide any veterinary care that may be needed. This not only clears up space in our shelter for other animals who need it, but it also allows the foster animal to begin to get used to life in a home and with a family. Fostering a pet reduces stress on the dog or cat and provides a great opportunity for training, as well as providing comfort for older animals. It can also be a great place for a sick or injured animal to recuperate.

MaxFund is run solely on donations, both private and corporate. A large portion of our food, leashes, collars, toys, bedding and many other things come from the public through donations. We have an ongoing wish list available on our web page at www.maxfund.org as well as a wish list available on Amazon.com. Donations can be dropped off during our operating hours of Wednesday through Sunday 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
